Walker Books is a well-established publishing house that specialises in children’s books. Their website, however, was outdated and lacked the modern features that today’s readers expect. The goal of this redesign was to create a website that not only showcased Walker Books’ extensive catalogue of titles but also provided an engaging and interactive experience for readers of all ages.
The design concept for the new Walker Books website was centred around the idea of bringing books to life. The homepage features a large, colourful banner that showcases the latest releases and upcoming titles. The banner is interactive, with readers able to click on the book covers to learn more about the books, and where to purchase them.
The website’s navigation was simplified to make it easy for readers to find what they were looking for. The main menu was condensed, with dropdown menus providing additional options. Categories such as “Picture Books,” “Young Adult,” and “Non-Fiction” were added to make it easier for readers to find the type of books they enjoy. A search bar was also added, allowing readers to search for books by title, author, or keyword.
Each book has its own dedicated page, with a cover image, a detailed synopsis, and additional information such as the author, illustrator, and imprint. Readers can also access a preview of the book, before purchasing.
The new website was designed to be fully responsive, meaning it looks great and functions perfectly on all devices, including smartphones and tablets.
The final design is modern, engaging, and easy to navigate, making it the perfect destination for readers of all ages. The addition of interactive features and simplified navigation has helped increase engagement and encourage readers to explore new books and authors.
