CHALLENGE
Leading Hand was commissioned to design and develop a dynamic, online version of the ASEAN NOW Report, following the supply of the report creative.
SOLUTION
This major web design project was facilitated by Austrade on behalf of Austrade, Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The final online report was a customised HTML website utilising a range of JS and CSS effects to present the site’s 55 unique pages of content including 21 animated infographics.
With a Mobile-First philosophy, a significant amount of planning, design and development went into mapping how content would be consumed on mobile and then translated effectively to the desktop environment.
A great deal of consideration was given to the user experience (UX), given the large amounts of content, not only as a linear report, but also as a website so the visitor can move through quickly to find specific information. This was ultimately achieved through a clever use of both on-site and in-page navigation elements.
Movement was introduced to the website in a number of ways including lazy-loading off-screen assets, animating infographics and even incorporating CSS-based animation to provide movement to the homepage background to further engage visitors to this dynamic digital resource.
We worked closely with Austrade to ensure our client was fully briefed on each stage of the website design and development process, enabling feedback to be incorporated on the go and issues to be quickly resolved.
This major web design project was delivered on time and on budget. Congratulations to Vanessa and Jason, and the ASEAN NOW team.
“Thank you for the work Leading Hand did [with the website]. It was a difficult brief because of the volume of content but the digital version is smart, intuitive and interactive. We are all very pleased with it and I love it.”
