Australian Publishers Association

Leading Hand has worked with the Australian Publishers Association consistently since 2016.

Summary

APA is the national representative body for the publishing industry in Australia and delivers key programs, initiative and advocacy to enhance and enrich the sector. Its key achievements for the sector include pricing and availability service TitlePage, the Residential Editorial Program and the prestigious Beatrice Davis Editorial Fellowship.

Over the years, we’ve delivered lots of branding for industry-leading APA events, campaigns and conferences, from the Frankfurt and Bologna book fairs to the BookUp conference and Australian Book Industry Awards. One recent high-level project was the retooling of the TitlePage brand and service, launching in 2026.

Being asked to develop the name and branding for the APA’s new digital infrastructure company, Foreword, was an exciting opportunity for Leading Hand. For creating the logo suite, presentation templates and sub-brand identities, we interviewed 6 stakeholders from a variety of book industry roles and incorporated their perspectives into the design process – a vital step in ensuring the results were relevant and meaningful to the sector.

APA is a key presence in the Australian book industry, committed to ensuring publishing remains sustainable, viable and dynamic. Its focus on training and development opportunities, business insights and active lobbying emphasises the value of books and reading in Australian society – a cause dear to our own hearts. We are proud to support the APA’s work with relatable, impactful designs and exciting visual identities.
