Getting In Shape Online For Authors
This is a one-day digital workshop designed to help authors improve their digital marketing skills. Stay tuned for next workshop date.
Authors are increasingly required to be active and adept at online marketing. This now means we all need to have at least a basic knowledge and set of skills around key digital marketing concepts, platforms and strategies. Specifically, creative people need to know how to create a professional online presence, even if that only means getting a mobile responsive website in place and setting up a social media channel.
Facilitated by Brett Osmond who has over 20 years’ experience in book publishing and digital marketing having worked with Richard Flanagan, Nigella Lawson, Stephen King, Tom Keneally, Susan Duncan, Lee Child, James Patterson, John Boyne and many other leading authors and Jason Williams, whose extensive knowledge encompasses user experience and user interface design in web development and web-app development, through to SEO, SEM, social media and website hosting solutions.
You will leave the day with a clear understanding of how you can improve your effectiveness online in a way that suits your individual skills, goals and objectives and critically, your budget.
The workshop covers websites, social media, enewsletters, search engine optimisation (+ keywords and writing for web more generally), the basic legal landscape with regards e.g. enewsletters and social media activity – and finally how to decide on the right approach to help you troubleshoot issues, keep your online presence up-to-date and performing well all year round.
The day is structured to suit both beginners and those that have more advanced knowledge and skills.
There is ample opportunity for discussion and there are a number of activities throughout the day to reinforce key principles.
Each participant will leave the day with a course summary and a set of optimisation activities to implement to improve their online presence.
